OCDMN — About Our Practice (preview)

About Our Practice

Specialized care. Thoughtfully done.

OCD & Anxiety Center of Minnesota is a specialty mental health practice focused on OCD, anxiety, and related conditions. We provide evidence-based care while recognizing that good treatment has to fit the person receiving it.

01 / Why OCDMN Exists

Specialized care can make a difference.

OCD is often misunderstood, missed, or treated with approaches that do not address the cycle keeping it going. OCDMN was created to make specialized, evidence-based treatment easier to find.

What began as an OCD-focused therapy practice has grown into a center providing therapy, assessments, parent support, groups, professional education, and community resources for people affected by OCD, anxiety, and related concerns.

Our goal is not simply to offer more mental health care. It is to offer care that understands what people are experiencing and uses approaches designed for it.

02 / What Matters Here

The things that guide our work.

Specialized treatment matters, but so does how that treatment is delivered. These principles shape the way we think about care.

Specialization

OCD and anxiety are not just some of the things we treat. They are a central focus of our practice.

Evidence-Based Care

We use treatments supported by research while adapting them to the person, concern, and context in front of us.

Individualized Treatment

A diagnosis can help us understand what is happening, but it does not tell us everything about you or what treatment should look like.

A Place You Can Be Yourself

We want people to be able to talk openly about intrusive thoughts, identities, experiences, and fears without having to make them more comfortable for us first.

03 / Beyond the Therapy Room

Our work extends beyond individual therapy.

Improving OCD and anxiety care also means improving access to specialized services, increasing understanding, and supporting the people who provide that care.

01

Care

Individual therapy, parent support, assessments, groups, and specialized services for children, adolescents, adults, and families.

02

Education

Training and consultation for clinicians who want to better recognize and effectively treat OCD and related conditions.

03

Community

Reducing stigma, sharing resources, and creating opportunities for people affected by OCD to learn, connect, and feel less alone.

04 / Inclusive Care

You should not have to leave parts of yourself at the door.

OCD and anxiety exist within the context of a person's identity, family, culture, relationships, neurotype, and lived experience. We work to provide care that is affirming, respectful, and responsive to those differences.

That also means continuing to examine barriers within mental health care and within our own practice rather than treating inclusion as something we have already finished working on.

05 / Our Approach

Evidence-based does not mean one-size-fits-all.

Effective treatment starts with understanding what is maintaining the problem, what matters to you, and what will make treatment workable in your actual life.

Our clinicians use specialized approaches for OCD, anxiety, and related conditions and tailor treatment to the concern being treated, the person's goals, and the way symptoms are functioning.

Depending on the concern, treatment may include ERP, I-CBT, CBT, ACT, HRT, SPACE, mindfulness-based approaches, RO-DBT, recreational therapy, parent work, and other evidence-based strategies.

06 / The Practice Today

A growing community of clinicians focused on specialized care.

OCDMN brings together clinicians with different professional backgrounds, areas of specialization, perspectives, and ways of working. What connects the team is a commitment to understanding OCD and anxiety well and providing treatment that is both evidence-based and human.

We believe having a range of clinicians matters. Finding a therapist is not only about finding someone who knows the treatment. It is also about finding someone whose experience, approach, and personality feel like a workable fit.
